It all started with a pumpkin.
A pumpkin named Pearl.
Pearl has been quite the celebrity in our neighborhood this year.
Her Mom, Jill, has taken very good care of her and fed her all the right things to help her grow big and strong.
And Pearl grew to be 659.4 pounds and won 4th place in the Elkin, NC Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. Yay, Pearl!!!
Jill and Bumble getting ready to cut Pearl's vine
(this is Pearl's belly button)
Miss May wanted to say bye to Pearl
This is gonna be some big work!
EEK! Did Pearl eat May?
Serious studying needed here . . .
Ta DA! The Lift!
And for more about Pearl's journey to the big time from here; see Jill's story - about "The Life of a Pumpkin Named Pearl."
And then . . . .
Ta DA!
PumpkinFest ! Yay, Yay !
Pearl and her family
We played. We laughed. We ate well.

Kaye!!! I love it! Great pictures. Love Donald with his safety glasses. Ha ha. Pearl looks great and looks like she may have taken care of Miss May.
Jill - it was a hoot! You and Brian outdid yourselves this year!!
Wow, you guys really know how to party. So fun!
The "belly button" photo slayed me.
Karen :0)
Yay, Pearl!
Giant pumpkins (dare I say, "Great Pumpkins"?) sometimes make the news around here, but usually they look more like a cake that fell. Pearl is one of the most normal-looking giant pumpkins I've ever seen.
Kay, with that long black wig, Donald looks like he's preparing for a Milli Vanilli reunion tour!
Happy Harvest, everybody!
What fun! A bunch of wild and crazy folks!
Karen - isn't that picture of Pearl's belly button a HOOT?! Donald took that picture. He has been fascinated by Pearl's belly button!!!!!! (I'm trying not to think about it too much . . . )
Jonathan - you are a scream. And very observant. He DOES look like one of those Milli Vanilli guys doesn't he?! Oh, too funny. I can't wait to tell him.
Vicki - you would love this neighborhood - come on over for a visit! It's a wonderful group and we love 'em all to pieces. and yep - not a sane one in the bunch.
